Independence Day event to go on despite rains
District Collector PS Pradyumna said that Independence Day celebrations would be a grand fete, even if it rains on Tuesday.“All works except flower decoration of stage has been completed. These works will be taken up on Monday night. On Monday morning, final rehearsal was conducted,” he said and asked all the pass holders to be in their seats by 8 am on Tuesday.

He added that the DGP N Sambasiva Rao would reach the main dais at 8.30 am and Chief Secretary Dinesh Kumar would arrive at 8.35 am. “They both will receive the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu at 8.55 am. The Chief Minister will unfurl the national flag at 9 am and receive the police guard of honour. He will also address the public on the development of the state in various fronts,” the collector informed.
Meanwhile, there was a downpour on Monday afternoon. But it has not caused any damage to the arrangements. Isolated rains are forecast for the next two days. With the thick clouds blanketing the city, officials are on high alert taking care even about minute things.
