Amaravati: Minister for water resources Deveneni Uma Maheswara Rao alleged that Congress MP KVP Ramachandra Rao was provoking neighbouring states against Polavaram project through his negative campaign.

Addressing a press conference in Vijayawada on Monday, Devineni charged KVP with raising Polavaram issue in Parliament with an intention to provide information to neighbouring states and provoke them to stall the project.

“Congress party failed in completion of Polavaram project even as the party had been in power for decades. It failed to complete the project due to corruption. The party leaders indulged corruption by robbing hundreds crores of rupees through Jalayagnam,” he alleged.

He also said the Polavaram project work was given to AP government by Centre only based on recommendations of NITI Aayog but the State did not want Modi government for project works. “At least 15 of total 100 national projects’ works are not being done on the same pace the Polavaram works are being executing. This has become possible due to works being taken up by the AP government” he explained.
