The stunning feats performed by Andhra Pradesh special police personnel attracted the visitors at the 71st Independence Day celebrations in Tirupati on Tuesday.

Tirupati: The stunning feats performed by Andhra Pradesh special police personnel attracted the visitors at the 71st Independence Day celebrations in Tirupati on Tuesday.

They took a break from their regular enforcement duties and performed bold feats on motor cycles. They went on performing one feat after another causing excitement to the people in the entire stadium who clapped several times in appreciation of their efforts.

The background songs through the speakers brought in some added cheer to the somewhat scary feats. The personnel have performed in single, double and even as a group with so many styles. At the end of their show, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu went to them and congratulated them.

Earlier, the police band played by a contingent also attracted the audience. The band gave a soothing experience to the viewers. The ceremonial parade comprising 12 wings including three battalions of APSP, Tamil Nadu State police contingent, Prohibition and Excise dept, NCC boys and girls, Kalikiri Sainik School, Bharat Scouts and Guides, AP social welfare residential educational institutions, AP Red Cross and AP Sainik Welfare department made the event colourful. The march past by the contingents has brought dignity and decorum to the celebrations.

The 12 tableaux of various departments exhibited the ongoing welfare schemes. The Forest Department tableau won the 1st prize followed by the Water Resources Department tableau. The third prize went to the Education department.

However, the TTD tableau was the special attraction in the celebrations. It exhibited the Mangal Vayidyas and Vedaseervachanam while the singers were singing Annamacharya songs. Many people, including the Chief Minister were seen praying to the God on the tableau.

Finally, the cultural programmes by students of various educational institutions showcased our culture and heritage.
Students of SV Music College-Tirupati, APSW Residential School, West Godavari and Sri Chaitanya School, Tirupati were the special attraction. TTD’s S V Vedic University and Chittoor District Yogasamithi have performed Yoga on the occasion.
