Farmers belonging to Tulagam, Duggupuram and Padali villages demand payment of R and R package before excavation of clay from
their fertile lands

Farmers belonging to Tulagam, Duggupuram and Padali villages opposed excavation of clay from their fertile lands for reservoir bund filling works at the three villages’ junction. They prevented works in the noon by demanding that the R and R payments should be cleared before shifting clay from their fields. But revenue and Vamsadhara officials did not stop works and proceeded further with the help of police.

The agitating farmers tried to stop works by staging protest in front of the machinery. To disperse the agitators, police resorted to lathi-charge in which 30 persons belonging to Duggupuram, Padali and Tulagam villages were injured. One CI, two SIs and three constables were also injured in the melee. Condition of Kolamuru Srinivasa Rao of Padali village is said to be critical as he received head injuries and another six persons sustained severe injuries.
