Libraries to be developed in district
In-Charge of Zilla Grandhalaya Samstha and Joint Collector G Srujana directed the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation to pay the due amount of Rs 47.65 crore, to the Zilla Grandhalaya Samstha. The Joint Collector also directed the GVMC to pay the library cess amount every month regularly. She also directed the panchayat raj department to pay the cess due amount of Rs 2 crore in a month’s time to the Grandhalaya Samstha.
The Zilla Grandhalayala Committee meeting was held on Thursday.Speaking on the occasion, Srujana directed the officials to send the proposals to take up construction of libraries, repair works, purchase of books and furniture.
The meeting passed a resolution to develop all the libraries in the district at a cost of Rs 2.17 crore in the present fiscal. The meeting approved to pay salaries to the staff, pensions and maintenance of the libraries to the tune of Rs 10.95 crore in the present fiscal.
The meeting also decided to increase the remuneration of contingent sweepers, who are working in 68 libraries across the district.
