Vijayawada: CPI State Secretary K Ramakrishna on Wednesday demanded that Marketing Minister Ch Adinarayana Reddy should be sacked from the Cabinet for his remarks on Dalits and tribals which he made during the Independence Day function in Kadapa district on Tuesday.

Ramakrishna said the Minister insulted the SCs and STs by making comments that SC/STs do not maintain hygiene and they should be held responsible for their backwardness. The Minister during his speech also mentioned that reservations were still continuing even after 70 years of Independence though originally they were meant for one decade.

The CPI leader condemned the remarks of Adinarayana Reddy and demanded for his ouster from the Cabinet..He expressed concern over the increasing attacks on Dalits after BJP was voted to power in the country and alleged that the TDP was showing bias against the Dalits in the State.

In a press release,, the CPI leader alleged that the TDP leaders boycotted Dalits in Garakaparru village in West Godavari district and lands of Dalits were forcibly seized in Prakasam district. Ramakrishna demanded that Adinarayana Reddy shold immediately tender apology to SC/STs in the State. He alleged the SC/ST sub plan funds were diverted for other purposes under TDP rule in the State.
