Shravanam wedding rush

Vizianagaram: After Aashadham, the wedding season has hit the markets again and shops with customers in large numbers thronging the shops. The Shravanam period, coming to an end by next week, is auspicious for performing weddings, house-warming ceremonies, opening of shops and other business establishments.

Generally, during the months of Aashadham and Moudyam, gold shops and cloth shops do very less business as the public do not perform any poojas, rituals and functions. With the onset of Shravanam, the function halls, wedding band parties and priests to perform the weddings are getting good orders.

Even the hardware and paint shops are also doing good business as the public is purchasing material for house-warming ceremonies (grihapravesham) Function halls also are being decked up for customers and carrying out necessary repairs to attract the public.

Speaking to The Hans India here on Tuesday, K.Gangadhar, owner of Shubham function hall in Vizianagaram said “We had good occupancy in the past few days and we are completely booked for the next week also.” he said.

K.Anand Kumar, owner of Anand Constructions said “My customers are demanding that I complete all the pending works like painting and water connections before the end of Shravanam. I have deployed some workers to complete all the works by this weekend. Most of my customers are planning to celebrate Grihapravesham in this week, ” he said.
