Nellore: The district administration has started purification of land records with a new software on pilot basis in the district for rectifying mistakes. Depending on the success of the process, it would be implemented across the state for making the land revenue records error-free. In fact, land records have been posing major problems for farmers with frequent errors in them where they face difficulty for even securing bank loans.

Till now, soon after the process has been initiated, district officials identified around 100 lakh problems till now that are needed to be rectified. They are also anticipating some three lakh problems would come to fore for rectification process.

But, as part of strengthening the system, a new system has been introduced with a new software for updating and correcting the data of lands. The total programme starts with digitisation, web land, Mee Seva, purification of land records, Mee Intiki Mee Bhoomi, integration with other departments, and finally dynamic capturing of crops through geo-tagging of lands.

District officials are busy with making the process efficient and the Joint Collector has personally been visiting the places and interacting with officials besides giving presentations on the process for hassle-free work and flawless records. Official records say around 65-70 lakh issues were corrected and still the district administration found more than 10 lakh issues.

As part of the programme, officials are now focusing on purification of land records for corrections in Pattadar name, survey number, standardisation of survey number, RSR data entry verification for any variations in extent of land, land nature standardisation, codes for land nature and classification, unique code for government lands, and crops.

District Collector R Mutyala Raju said they are now able to resolve 85-90 per cent of cases where matters not involved in the jurisdiction of courts. He said the process has been implemented in the district on pilot basis and would be replicated across the state observing its efficacy to delete errors from the records. In fact, there are 31.98 lakh acres of lands in the district owned by government, private and dot lands. About 2.79 lakh acres belongs to the Forest department.

Dots were put earlier where there was no proper identification of land with its ownership and such farmers have been facing troubled with ‘dot marked’ lands and the AP government had enacted separate act for this purpose this year. Still, the issues have to be focused and the state government started implementing the project in the district.

The district administration also acted against many mandal-level revenue officials making them responsible for errors in land records and some instances had also proved influence of local people who misled records with the support of the errant officials. Even though, officials take much pain to purify the records, but lower rung staff distort them somewhere based on the loopholes in the process.
