Nandyal: The cops of Nandyal One Town police station took 25 persons into custody on the charges of distributing money to voters at Gandhi Chowk and Ayyaluru Metta in Nandyal on Friday. According to available sources, some persons, party affiliation not known, were said to be distributing amount to the voters of Nandyal. With the information, the one town police conducted raids, caught 25 persons found to be distributing money and shifted them to police station.

The one town police station Circle Inspector Akthar Basha speaking to press persons said, “We had received information that money was being distributed to voters at Gandhi Chowk and Ayyaluru Metta. With the information we reached the said places and found some persons distributing cash.”

The police found that they belonged to Bethamcherla and surrounding areas of Nandyal. An amount of Rs 5 lakh was reportedly seized from them. The CI said that SP Gopinath Jetti issued instructions to curb irregularities to ensure a fair
election.
