ABVP demands government takeover of VR colleges

Tension prevailed for some time when an ABVP leader tried to enter the Collectorate but police foiled his bid. A scuffle broke between police and activists when police took ABVP leaders into the custody and shifted them to I-Town police station. Two ABVP leaders received minor injuries while being shifted to police station.
Speaking to the media, ABVP state secretary K Mallikarjuna came down heavily on the state government for not taking over VR educational institutions despite High Court directions. He alleged that the state government has been neglecting the issue to benefit the local TD leaders.
The ABVP leader said that the state government had failed to take up repairs and renewals of the social welfare hostel buildings across the district. Majority welfare hostel buildings across the state are in dilapidated condition, he added. Mallikarjuna slammed the TD government for closing the schools in the name of rationalisation across the state.
He also alleged that the Chief Minister had handed over the education system to the two cabinet Ministers, who are relatives. He warned that the ABVP would intensify the agitation if the government fails to resolve issues immediately.
