Visakhapatnam: Senior Civil Judge and Secretary District Legal Services Authority S Damodara Rao on Friday issued notices to superintending engineer and assistant engineer of APEPDCL to appear before him and file replies on August 24 against a complaint filed by a 45-year-old Bobbili Mutyala Naidu on the amputation of his left hand due to electrocution.

The victim Bobbili Mutyala Naidu, an agricultural labourer and resident of Chidikada mandal in the district, migrated to the city for livelihood and working as a labourer for the past one year. On May 9, 2017, Mutyala Naidu went to work at the house of N Venkata Giri which falls under Three Town police station limits.

A high-tension power wire was passing through the house and Mutyala Naidu came in contact with the high-tension wire accidentally and was severely injured. His left hand was amputated and kidney was damaged. He was shifted to a corporate hospital by his employer. A police report was also filed at Three Town police station seeking compensation for the damages from the APEPDCL.

As there is no response from the department, Mutyala Naidu filed pre-litigation case before the DLSA and the secretary immediately appointed advocate V Poli Naidu to look after the matter. Senior advocate and President Forum of Legal Professionals Kuppili Muralidhar vetted the draft petition before the authority and pleaded with the authority to award compensation for the poor agricultural labourer Mutyala Naidu.
