Amaravati: Former Congress MP Gangula Pratap Reddy`s entry into ruling TDP, just five days ahead of the Nandyal by-election is likely to change the political polarisation in the constitution, where the TDP and YSRCP are in tough fight to grab the seat, which was won by the YSRCP in 2014 elections.

Pratap Reddy who joined in TDP in the presence of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday night in Amaravati announced that he will campaign for TDP candidate Bhuma Brahmananda Reddy, though he was an archrival to that family earlier.

Though Pratap Reddy was having political rivalry with Bhuma Nagireddy, who won the Nandyal Assembly seat while contesting as YSRCP candidate and later defected to TDP, he disclosed that he does not foresee any enmity with Bhuma’s family.

He clarified on Thursday that he does not have any rivalry with Bhuma Nagireddy’s daughter and Minister Bhuma Akhila Priya, who he considers as a young leader. Earlier, Pratap Reddy intended to join YSRCP if the party had offered him ticket for Nandyal Assembly bypoll, but the party chief Jagan selected Silpa Mohan Reddy to contest the byelection.

Interestingly, Pratap Reddy`s brother Prabhakar Reddy had quit the TDP in February this year and joined YSRCP and got elected as member of the Legislative Council in March.
