Vijayawada: Girl students of Komma Sitaramamma Girls High School at Patmatalanka were given training in self-defence on Friday as part of the four-day programme organised by Inner Wheel Club and Vasavya Mahila Mandali.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Gaja Rao Bhupal addressing the girl students said that the self-defence techniques would boost the self-confidence levels of the girls. He advised the girls not to silently suffer over their problems neglecting their studies. “They could share their problems with friends, teachers and parents to get them solved,” he added.

Dr B Keerti, technical support manager of Vasavya Mahila Mandali, exhorted the girls to set target in the life and never stop till they reach it. “They should think of bright future not mere problems,” she added.

G Rashmi, secretary of Vasavya Mahila Mandali and Golden Jubilee president of Inner Wheel Club said that the students should learn general knowledge apart from education. She advised them to dial 100 in case of any problems like eve-teasing, ragging and others.
