Nandyal: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday depicted YSRC leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy as Bhasmasura, an asura in Indian mythology who was driven by an ambition to be the most immortal soul in his Asura tribe.
Leading a road show and addressing series of impromptu gatherings at Nandyal as part of election campaign, Naidu cautioned people to be aware of “evil spirits’ of Bhasmasura-like Jagan.
“If Jagan touches any one’s head, he will be reduced to ashes as Bhasmasura tries to do in the case of lord Shiva”, he said. The high-pitched election campaign has been receiving interesting parables from Indian classics, amusing anecdotes and choicest epithets from the leaders of rival groups in the last few days.
Jagan earlier depicted Naidu as headman of Kavaravas in the epic Maha Bharat and called him a thief stealing 21 MLAs from the YSRC flock in the form of defections.
Chandrababu sought to describe the byelection as a fight between development and destruction. Jagan said it was an epic battle between Adharma represented by the TDP and Dharma professed by his YSRC.
Naidu said State will be ruined if Jagan with his `notorious’ faction background will take its reins. He wanted the people to take a wise decision in the interest of state and to promote peace and prosperity.
