Visakhapatnam: Union Minister and TDP leader Y Sujana Choudhary, while expressing confidence that his party would win the election, said the Nandyal bypoll would not be a referendum on the performance of the government in the state. Talking to reporters here on Saturday, Sujana Chowdhary said: “Election to the Nandyal Assembly seat is not a referendum. Most of the party leaders have been campaigning here because we don’t want to lose in the election.”

Setting aside the allegation of YSRCP leaders that the TDP has been luring voters by offering huge sums of money, Sujana Chowdhary said the Election Commission had taken all precautions to hold free and fair elections in Nandyal and hence there was no scope for any irregularities.

Replying to a question on the TD government spending crores of rupees on developmental works in the Nandyal Assembly constituency ahead of the by-election, Sujana Chowdary said the government had focused on the development of all regions of the state and there could be more funds for Nandyal as per its requirements and earlier commitments of the government.

Explaining why the TDP would win the by-election, Sujana Choudhary said the people have a lot of faith in their government and Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu. People have been observing the performance of the TD government ever since it came to power three years ago, he added.
