Srikakulam: New Land Acquisition (LA) Act of 2013 is not applicable to Vamsadhara project at this juncture, clarified District Collector K Dhanunjaya Reddy.
Addressing a press conference on Vamsadhara project issue at the Collectorate here on Saturday, he said that lands acquired for the project from farmers in 2006 and 2007 based on the Old LA Act of 1894 and the GO was issued in 2005 to that effect. At that time, farmers gave advance possession letters to the government and lands handed over to the irrigation officials, the Collector clarified.
There is no scope for enhancement of package under rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) by considering increase in prices for lands from 2006 to 2017, he explained.
The government released Rs 421 crore funds under youth package through the GO No 460 and they paid Rs 306 crore to 6,367 youth, who attained 18 years of age by December 31, 2015, and will pay remaining amount to 569 youth, he elaborated.
“Works to provide basic amenities would be completed in one month for which Rs 3.28 crore is required,” Collector said. Joint Collector KVN Chakradhara Babu, Superintendent of Police CM Trivikrama Varma were present
