To overcome the hurdle, district police and revenue department officials jointly introduced a new app ‘call ambulance’ to mitigate loss of lives during emergency situation when accidents occurred.

Speaking to the media here on Sunday, Superintendent of Police CM Trivikrama Varma said that the ‘call ambulance’ app could be downloaded from Google playstore or apple app store and it would be made available in all smart mobile phones.

For the first time in the state, the ambulance app was introduced in Srikakulam district to prevent loss of lives during accidents. SP Varma said that once we click the app, all details like nearest hospitals, blood banks, police stations would be displayed on mobile screen.

“Interested persons can download the app and register their names as first responders and they will be provided training in giving first aid by the 108 medical staff,” the SP added. Any person who helped the victims through the app would not be harassed by the police in the name of giving evidence, the SP clarified.

Service provider of the app Jagadish Viswanadham said that that already conducted awareness camps on the ‘call ambulance’ app in degree and professional colleges.
