  • Officials say there is no flood threat to West Godavari at present
  • Water level is likely to rise due to rains in Telangana and Odisha

Due to this water flow downstream, the levels at Velairpadu and Polavaram mandals, the Akhanda Godavari, a tributary of River Godavari, is gradually rising. It is expected water level may further rise due to continuing rains.

River Sabari which flows from Odisha, also received flood water due to the heavy rains upstream. Rivulet Edduvagu is now slowly receiving the flood water from River Godavari between Velairpadu and Koida villages. If the water flow increases into this rivulet, about 20 villages might be cut off from the outside world. In Polavaram, the Godavari flood water is increasing, halting the ongoing cofferdam works. The water also reached the diaphragm wall area.

Meanwhile, the Tammileru reservoir at Nagireddy--igudem received 2,000 cusecs of water from Telangana, raising water level to 336 feet, according to water resources department officials. They said that there is no outflow from the reservoir as it did not reach the required level of 350 feet.
