Eluru: A major fire broke out in a hair industry unit in Kovvuru on Sunday early hours in West Godavari district.
According to fire officials, a fire broke out in the Gayatri Enterprises, a hair industry unit in Kovvuru in the early hours of Sunday. The local people who saw the smoke from the factory immediately informed the matter to the fire officials who reached the spot and tried to control the flames that engulfed the whole factory.

As it was Sunday, no workers were in the factory at that time of the fire. After an effort of over an hour, the fire officials managed to control the flames. However, all the hair baggage in the factory turned into ashes. As the flames engulfed the factory, the surrounding area people feared for their safety. However, no damage was done to other houses nearby.

The smell of burnt hair and heat wave from the flames created an unpleasant environment in the whole area. The industry owner Marisetti Venkateswara Rao of Kovvuru said that Rs.9.50 crore worth raw and processed material was present in the unit and the timely action from the fire personnel had saved Rs.three crore worth material.

The Fire Officer K Satyanandam and other officials also rushed the spot and inspected it . They suspected that power short circuit might be the cause of the fire.
