Amaravati: The State government is to open LED bulb distribution counters to replace defunct bulbs at the all mandal headquarters in 175 Assembly constituencies across the state. The officials have taken this decision in a review meeting chaired by Minister Kala Venkata Rao here on Sunday.

Highlights:

  • Around 5.26 Lakhs bulbs were replaced so far, which amounts to around 2.4 per cent of the total LED bulbs distributed till date
  • Under the proposed mechanism, the consumer can go the concerned office in their mandal, submit the defective LED bulbs along with a copy of current bill and Aadhaar card (optional)

On this occasion, he said the State government mulled over a special mechanism to replace all the failed LED bulbs in every mandal headquarter of the State by involving local field level officials of the power utilities. He directed them to take up replacement of defective LED bulbs as a top priority item on par with distribution of LED bulbs and other energy efficient appliances.

The minister directed the officials to ensure the LED bulbs be available at local electricity offices at mandal headquarters for easy replacement of the consumers. He suggested the Energy department to workout modalities in such a way that Energy Efficiency Services Limited, which distributed over 2.16 crore LED bulbs so far in the state, maintains adequate stock of LED bulbs at district stores of discoms for replacement of defective LEDs.
