Giving details to the media on the elaborate arrangements made to the polling, Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal said that 2, 19,108 voters would be using their franchise in 255 polling stations. “So far, 2, 03,155 voter’s slips had been distributed. 15,703 voter slips could not be distributed following death, house shifting, absent and not available at the time of enrolment and duplicate voter registration,” he said.

He said that 40 normal, 74 critical and 141 hypersensitive polling stations have been identified. “For smooth conduct of the polling, 6 companies of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and 8 companies of Andhra Pradesh Special Police Force (APSPF) and 2,500 law and order police will be deployed.

Every ward in the Nandyal municipal limits and every village panchayat will have a flying squad to reach out to any place within 10 minutes on receiving complaints of trouble,” Bhanwar Lal said.

“All ministers, political leaders and party workers, who are non-locals are told to leave Kurnool district by 6 pm on Monday. Those native of the Nandyal had been asked to remain at their homes and not to venture outside to campaign for next 48 hours,” he added and warned that the commission would slap criminal cases against those found engaged in electioneering.
He said that the commission has been monitoring 16 Telugu television channels 24/7 to initiate action if paid articles, until the election process has been completed.
