Kadapa: Central government should resolve the problems of ‘Grameen Dak Sevaks’ (GDS), who are on relay hunger strike across the country from the past one week, at the earliest, demanded LIC Employees’ Union general secretary A Raghunath Reddy on Monday.

Raghunath Reddy, while addressing the Sevaks, who are on strike at head post office, demanded the Central Government to regularise GDS services and recognise them as postal regular employees. He reiterated that there is no existence of Postal department without the Branch Post Master, Delivery Agents and Main Carriers. Raghunath Reddy said that they are the bridge between customers and department who works at field level.

Apart from regularising their services they should be given pension and other allowances on par with regular employees, he argued. Former MLC Pochamreddy Subba Reddy supported the strike. The strike was organised under the aegis of All India Dak Sevak Union Division president Sudharshan Reddy and general secretary Ramu. All India Dak Sevak Union treasurers Rambabu and Venkata Subbaiah and LIC Employees DO Unit secretary A Srinivas took part in the strike.
