Tirupati: Ten students suffered injuries when two rival groups of Telugu Nadu Student Federation (TNSF) attacked each other with sticks at I Block on the hostel premises in the Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) at 11 pm on late Monday night. According to police sources, argument ensued between research scholar Rammohan, who is staying in I Block, and university alumni Bhaskar Yadav over personal issue near the main canteen.

Both of them called their friends and followers from outside to attack each other. They arrived at the hostel with sticks and attacked each other for 30 minutes. Some students, who were inside the hostel, have informed police about clashes between two groups.

On receiving information, the police personnel arrived on the spot and took few students into the custody. Rammohan and Baskar Yadav have lodged complaints against each other in the SVU campus police station. The police registered cases against both groups. Speaking to The Hans India, YSRCP Students Union leader Muralidhar has criticised officials for failing to prevent the entry of outsiders into the campus. He said that wardens should visit hostels regularly to avoid untoward incidents.
