The KRMB meeting held here on Tuesday discussed at length over the prevailing conditions in both the states as no water has been released from upper riparian states so far.

Vijayawada: The Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) has decided to write letters to the Central government and Bajaj Committee for release of water to downstream projects of AP and Telangana to meet the drinking water needs.
The KRMB meeting held here on Tuesday discussed at length over the prevailing conditions in both the states as no water has been released from upper riparian states so far.

Later speaking to media persons, KRMB chairman SK Srivastava and member secretary Sameer Chatterjee said that they decided to write a letter to the Centre and Bajaj Committee for equal distribution of water to downstream projects from upper riparian states. They said the main agenda of Tuesday’s discussion was on equal distribution of water between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

They said that the KRMB decided to install 29 telemetry equipment in second phase in both AP and Telangana. They said 18 telemetry equipment were already installed so far.

Answering a question they said that Telangana has been honouring the release order of KRMB though there was time lapse in some instances.

Principal Secretary of Water Resources, Govt of AP Sasibushan Kumar, Engineer-in-Chief M Venkateswara Rao, SPl chief secretary Irrigation and CAD Telangana SK Joshi and Muralidhar Engineer-in-Chief participated.
