Nandyal-by-election polling process has ended in Kurnool district. The polling has taken place very peacefully barring few sporadic incidents. A record voting of 77.66 percent was witnessed by the end of the evening which is a first. The highest number of polling was recorded in the rural areas.

There are 15 candidates in the fray, including TDP's Brahmananda Reddy, YSR Congress party's Shilpa Mohan Reddy and Abdul Khader from the Congress. The election campaign was intensified with Chief Minister and TDP President N. Chandrababu Naidu and YSR Congress chief Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy personally getting involved in the campaign.

Meanwhile, in the urban areas, about 70 percent of the polling was recorded. Overall, polling is expected to be over 80%.

The polling process has been quiet without any unwanted incidents, as the massive police forces are deployed.

The polling is expected to be around 80 percent of the polling in the backdrop of the 77.66 percent polling recorded this evening.

Officials looked into the polling process by webcasting cameras which are connected to the Control Room. The Central Election Commission also monitored this election. With polling stations in the constituency roughly around 80 to 90, the polling stations were set up at each polling station with paramilitary forces.

For 25 polling stations in the Nandyal constituency, the central forces were deployed and secured security. Separately, the constituency is divided into 20 sectors and is organized and monitored by sectarian officers with the Tahsildar level people.

The effort of major political parties to move voters to polling centers seems to have grown. Officials said 1,57,401 votes were lost till 3 pm. The result will be revealed on the 28th of this month.
