Vijayawada: The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) is preparing to conduct a comprehensive survey in the city to select beneficiaries for allotment of houses under the Prime Minister Awaz Yojana (PMAY)-NTR Nagar housing project. The Central government sanctioned 12,024 houses under the PMAY-NTR Nagar housing scheme in the first phase for Vijayawada city. As part of mega housing project, 10,624 housing units will be constructed in Jakkampudi village, 440 housing units in Dal mill area and 960 housing units in KL Rao Nagar in One town.

The VMC had started collection of applications and it is estimated that nearly 40,000 applications were received from white ration card holders.The AP Industrial and Technical Consultancy Organisation (APITCO) will construct the houses. The APITCO has conducted soil testing in Jakkampudi village for construction of 10,624 houses. As the construction site located in rocky area near the hills, the foundation laying expenses will be low.

Selection of genuine beneficiaries is not an easy task in the city as several thousand beneficiaries have already taken houses in Jakkampudi JNNURM housing colony, Vambay colony, RR Pet, Gangireddula Dibba and other parts of the city under various schemes. Now, again some more beneficiaries may apply for the housing units under the PMAY-NTR Nagar housing scheme.

B Mohana Rao, Executive Engineer, VMC Housing, said the civic body is gearing up to conduct the survey to select the beneficiaries for sanction of housing units under PMAY-NTR Housing scheme. He said the survey teams will collect information on bank accounts, Aadhaar number, other important socio-economic details of families.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and former Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu jointly inaugurated the housing project two months ago at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram.

As per the norms, white ration card holders are eligible for the housing units, which are G+3 type structures. The State and Central governments will sanction subsidy of Rs 1.50 lakh each to the beneficiary. Each unit will have 300 square yards plinth area, 365 square yards and 430 square yards.

The government will arrange bank loan of Rs 2.62 lakh for 300 square yards unit, Rs 3.24 square yards for 365 square yards and Rs 3.71 lakh for the 430 square yards unit. The applicant must not own house, the family income should not exceed Rs 3 lakh per year, must have bank account and should enrol his name in PMAY website.

For 430 square yard home, the applicant must deposit Rs 1 lakh in a single instalment or in four instalments of Rs 25,000 each. The applicant must deposit Rs 50,000 in a single instalment or in four instalments to get 365 square yards house.
