Kakinada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu asserted that he was committed to Kakinada’s development. He conducted a road show here on Saturday to lead the campaign for party candidates in Kakinada Municipal Corporation (KMC) polls.

Addressing public meetings at various centres, the Chief Minister noted that city has natural resources to enable faster development. He informed that he urged Central government to develop the water transport system from Kakinada to Pondicherry via Buckingham Canal.

Taking a dig at all political parties over Kapu reservations, “Until TDP included reservations for Kapus, no party talked about it,” he recalled. “We are committed for the cause and created a corporation for Kapus with Rs 1000 crore fund. Manjunadh Commission will submit its report soon,” he informed.

Naidu directed the officials to lay end to end cement roads in all the divisions of Kakinada. He assured that by the end of 2019, 24/7 potable drinking water would be supplied to every family in Kakinada.

Coming down heavily on YSRC, he alleged that the party leaders and cadre were involved in cricket betting and ATM theft cases. “How can these people be eligible for serving the public,” he wondered.

“Criminals, factionists and anarchic powers are attempting to transform Kakinada city into Pulivendula,” he stated and asked the public whether they want Kakinada to be like Pulivendula.

Stating that Visakhapatnam to Kakinada beach road would be developed soon, he termed MEPMA and DWACRA schemes as his daughters. He appealed public not to vote for YSRCP, if they want corruption-free rule. Finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, home Minister Chinarajappa and others were present.
