Kapu youth took out a massive motorcycle rally from Penumanchili village in Achanta mandal of West Godavari district to Kirlampudi in support of Kapunadu leader Mudragada Padmanabham who embarked on padayatra from his house to Amaravati on Sunday.

West Godavari district Kapunadu president Chinimilli Venkatrayudu flagged off the rally at Penumanchili village and participated in the rally along with other leaders.

Speaking on the occasion, Chilimilli Venkatarayudu alleged that the TDP government had been harassing Mudragada Padmanabham by not allowing his padayatra and for keeping him under house arrest for a month. He demanded that the government give permission for Mudragada’s padayatra and asked the Chief Minister Naidu to fulfil the electoral promises made to Kapus otherwise, Kapus will intensify the agitation, he said.

The motorcycle rally went through the villages in Achanta mandal and reached Siddhantham bridge. Police stopped the rally at Rajanagaram near Rajamandry on the National Highway. With this, the Kapu youth resorted to a rasta roko for over an hour. Police arrested 15 agitators and later released them after filing bind over cases.

West Godavari leaders, who reached Kirlampudi, participated in Mudragada’s padayatra which started unexpectedly. Police arrested Kapu leaders Mata Srinivas, Ganeshula Nageswara Rao, Chinimilli Venkatrayudu and others, along with Mudragada, and shifted them to Jaggampeta police station on Sunday evening.
