Rajamahendravaram: CPI State secretary K Ramakrishna alleged that ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and opposition YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) were dumping crores of rupees in the elections.

Speaking to reporters at the party office here on Saturday, he lambasted the two parties for their money and muscle power politics in the elections.

He said both TDP and YSRCP spent crores of rupees in Nandyal by-election and now they were getting ready to spend money for Kakinada Municipal Corporation elections, scheduled to be held on August 29.

The two parties opened doors for distribution of money to the voters, which is against the Constitution and moreover they are luring the voters with money and sops, he said.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy were not caring for moral values and adopting cheap politics, the CPI leader alleged.

He further alleged that in Kakinada both the parties were even getting ready to purchase corporators also each at Rs 50 lakh if necessary. Instead of conducting elections, they can opt for corporators in open auction, he said.

Ramakrishna said both the leaders were acting against the Constitution and it is the time for voters to act on their own.

CPI State executive council member Ravula Venkaiah and party leader N Rama Rao were present.
