Kakinada: YSRC Party MLA RK Roja on Saturday gave a call to defeat the ruling Telugu Desam Party in the Kakinada Municipal Corporation elections if the electorate want a corrupt-free government for the remaining one-and-half years tenure.

Participating in a road show held as part of election campaign in Kakinada, Roja asked as to why the BJP leaders are not pressing their political ally TDP over not spending of funds sanctioned to Kakinada. “Why the BJP leaders are remained silent,” Roja asked. She further asked the public not to believe Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's promises as he is known for not keeping his words. Reminding that Kakinada is famous for "Madatha Kaaja", She appealed to people to show their flavour of Madatha Kaaja to TDP leaders by defeating their candidates in KMC polls. She alleged that the TDP government betrayed all sections of people in the State.

Meanwhile, former minister and YSRC leader Dharmana Prasada Rao on Saturday said that no one can believe the ruling TDP as its party supremo is known for not keeping his word.

Speaking to media at Padmanabha Functional Hall here on Saturday, the former minister slammed the TDP for not fulfilling its promises made to weaker sections during the elections.

Reminding that the TDP promised many times that they are committed to the development of Kakinada, Dharmana asked the leaders to show where is the development in the city. He said that they did not even constructed a garbage yard for Kakinada city even after the completion of three-and-half years rule in the state.

Though the Centre announced Kakinada to be developed as Smart City under the Central government’s scheme, he said the TDP leaders did not clarify how much money they spent on the Smart City works so far. All the other state Chief Ministers are getting funds from the Central government to develop their own states while Naidu did not even get appointment of the Prime Minister, he said.
