APUGBC, VUDA to develop theme parks

Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh Urban Greening and Beautification Corporation (APUGBC) and Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) have jointly decided to develop a theme park on the existing Mudasarlova Park. Already, a senior architect from Pune, Raj Expedith prepared some designs to develop the theme park at a meeting held in Amaravathi. However, the APUGBC told the architect to come up with a detailed presentation on the project.
A review meeting was held at the VUDA administrative office here on Monday in which the APUGBC, VUDA and several architects were present and discussed about the plans and designs of the theme park.
However, according to sources, the officials have not yet decided the designs. The architect gave a power-point presentation on the conceptual theme park. “We have discussed the development plans of the Mudasarlova Theme Park. The APUGBC is handling the project,” Vice-Chairman, VUDA Basanth Kumar said.
The Mudasarlova Park was developed in 1902 on an extent of 80 acres and a reservoir in extent of 70 acres. However, after the Hudh hudh cyclone in 2014, the park was closed. The State government directed district administration to develop an international standard theme park as surrounding areas are very beautiful blessed natural resources. However, the plans for the theme park have faced series of delays since 2015.
According to plans, the VUDA is proposing to develop theme based entertainments including an igloo village, miniature gold court, jungle book tree houses and a meditation zone.
