Kapus are not backward: Krishnaiah

Guntur: BC Welfare Association national president and MLA R Krishnaiah said on Sunday that he will float a new political party for BCs very soon after discussing with the BC leaders in various districts in the state and intellectuals. He said, pressure is being mounted on him to start a new political party from the village level leaders. Addressing the media in Guntur city, he said all the political parties are doing injustice to the backward communities.

B C votes are 56 per cent but we do not have even 14 per cent representation he said, adding that this is a democracy for upper caste people. He further said that it is not possible to give reservations to the Kapus without doing injustice to the BCs and reminded that the government has given reservations to Muslims in education and employment because they were included in the BC list.

Later, they went to court, they got political reservations. He said, Kapus are not a backward caste.They were well settled in cinema and other fields and opposed the proposal of including Kapus in the list of BCs. He made it clear that he was not backed by Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
