Heart surgeries at free of cost to kids
Heart and Brain Institute, Andhra Hospitals, will organise Paediatric Cardiology and Cardiac surgical camp with the support of Healing Little Hearts, UK. Vijayawada: Heart and Brain Institute, Andhra Hospitals, will organise Paediatric Cardiology and Cardiac surgical camp with the support of Healing Little Hearts, UK. Surgeries will be performed on poor children suffering from heart problems.
The camp is conducted from August 28 to September 9, said Dr P V Rama Rao, chief of Children’s Services & Director of Hearth and Brain Institute, Vijayawada. Two teams will conduct 25 to 30 surgeries free of cost, he added.
He said the institute has been doing children heart surgeries regularly for the past two years. He informed that Healing Little Hearts, UK team came six times so far in the last two years and many complex heart surgeries were done with their association. He said that Andhra Hospitals is planning to do more surgeries in near future and we could do it more aggressively if we also get support from Government of Andhra Pradesh.
Dr Vikram, Dr Branco Mimic, Dr Zoha, Dr Julia from UK and Dr Dilip and other local doctors are participating in the camp. Doctors team include paediatric interventional cardiologist, paediatric cardiac surgeons, paediatric cardiac intensivists, paediatric cardiac anaesthetist, perfusionist, paediatric intensive care nurses and the team led by Dr Vikram from UK decided to do all complex heart surgeries.
