Vijayawada: The city police convened an awareness meeting for bankers on cyber and other crimes, which were on the rise in banks, here on Tuesday. Joint Commissioner of Police BV Ramana Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police L&O II Kanti Rana Tata and DCP L&O I Dr Gajaraja Bhupal explained to both the government and private bankers on cyber-crimes, online crimes and elaborated on the measures to be taken to contain the crimes.

They also discussed on the nature of crimes in banks and the preventive steps being taken by the bankers. Awareness among bank customers on OTP and other internet-related links was also came for discussion. Crime at ATMs and security, including CCTV camera arrangements, were also discussed.

The cops also referred to role of nodal officers in banks, setting up of committees, necessity of awareness programmes and whether the bankers have any training institutes which can help them deal with crime. They also dwelt on linking pan card with Aadhaar card, transactions with government and foreign banking and preventive steps needed to curb crime.
