Participating in Telugu Basha Dinotsavam organised at Tummalapalli Kshetraiah Kalakshetram, here, on the occasion of 154 birth anniversary of Gidugu Ramurthy Pantulu on Tuesday, the Chief Minister stressed the need for protecting our culture and language. He said cultural arts should be promoted for the development of Telugu language.

The Chief Minister said he wrote to Centre for setting up Telugu ancient language centre in Amaravati. The Chief Minister issued orders for setting up seven academies to promote Telugu language and culture. He asked the Telugu Bhasha Pradhikara Samsta to prepare an action plan to develop Telugu language.

Presiding over the programme deputy Speaker Mandali Budha Prasad said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu initiated several programmes for the development of Telugu language and culture. He said Telugu language should be used in administration. Advisor (communications) Parakala Prabhakar explained the initiative of Gidugu Rammurty Pantulu in promoting common usage of Telugu language.

Minister for cultural affairs Bhuma Akhilapriya appealed the Chief Minister to take initiative to bring back the ancient Telugu books from Hyderabad to Amaravati. She said technology should be used to develop usage of Telugu language in all sectors. Later the Chief Minister presented awards to several people who strived hard for development of Telugu language and culture.
