Srikakulam: The High Court judicature at Hyderabad for the state of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh expressed serious concern over damage of standing crops in Vamsadhara project villages in Hira mandal.

Human Rights Forum (HRF) vice-president for both Telugu states, Kapavarapu Venkata Jagannadha Rao filed a public interest litigation (PIL) through his advocate VasudhaNagaraj in the High Court. It was admitted on Tuesday.

He filed the public interest litigation against the government authorities for forceful eviction of displaced of Vamsadhara project, damage of standing crops paddy and other varieties and refusing to apply New Land Acquisition Act 2013 for payment of rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) package.

Before admission of the public interest litigation, during the hearing, the High Court expressed serious concern over damage of standing crops. Th court directed the government authorities concerned to file their counters on allegations of petitioner in a week.

Principal secretary for land acquisition wing, special deputy collectors of Vamsadharaland acquisition, District Collector Srikakulam, revenue divisional officer (RDO) of Palakonda in Srikakulam district, commissioner for R&R package of the government, district superintendent of police, station house officer (SHO) of Hira mandal are mentioned as respondents in the writ petition.
