Visakhapatnam: Telugu Bhasha Dinotsavam and 'Vyavaharika Bhashodyama Netha’ Gidugu Venkata Ramamurthy Pantulu’s 154th birth anniversary was observed on Beach Road here on Tuesday.

After garlanding Telugu thalli statue, Collector Pravin Kumar said apart from insisting on usage of Telugu in the government and private offices, the government is giving opportunity to write public service commission exams in Telugu.

Dr Migada Ramalinga Swamy and Vedula Subrahmanya Swamy spoke about the uniqueness of Telugu and recalled Gidugu's efforts to spearhead the movement of colloquial Telugu.

Students of Bhashyam School and Sri Krishna Vidya Mandir rendered songs on the occasion. Vizag Journalists Forum president Gantala Srinu Babu and others were present.
