12 fall sick due to poisoning

Adoni (Kurnool): Veeranna, mushroom farmer of Kothuru village, and 11 of his family members were admitted to the Government Area Hospital here on Friday as they fell sick after having meals with mushroom curry.

Those hospitalised were identified as Veeranna’s wife Narasamma, son Mallikarjuna and daughter Bhuvaneswari, Ramanjaneyulu, Narasanna, Hanumanthu, Rangamma, Vignanam, Anandi and two others. According to doctors, two of the victims are in serious condition. Their illness was attributed to consumption of Amanita Varma variety of mushrooms.
