Proddatur (Kadapa): An awareness convention on anti-ragging was conducted at Sai Rajeswari Institute of Technology (SRIT) on Friday. Second Additional District Judge Manohar Reddy and District Legal Services Authority Secretary U U Prasad were the chief guests. While addressing the students, Manohar Reddy said ragging is a crime, those who found guilty will be punished strictly and added that they will be suspended from the college.

He advised the senior students to make friendly relationship with juniors and strive to fulfil the dreams of parents. The Judge advised the students to lodge complaint with the District Legal Services Authority if management turned blind eye to ragging activities.

UU Prasad urged the management to form Anti-Ragging Committee and Anti-Ragging Squad. He said first Anti Ragging Act was enacted in Tamil Nadu. College Chairman Basireddy Rajeswar Reddy said they are taking necessary steps to prevent untoward incident and added that no unwarranted incident was registered so far. Later, the chief guests were felicitated on the occasion. Teaching and non-teaching staff, students and parents participated in the convention.
