Vijayawada: The Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths on Thursday, caught another big fish, who amassed disproportionate assets. The accused official K Veera Raghavendra Rao is working as a superintending engineer, roads and buildings, Guntur Circle.

The ACB officials conducted simultaneous searches at the house of the accused official and at 10 other places in Guntur, Sattenapalli, Thullur, Mangalagiri of Guntur district and Machilipatnam of Krishna district.

Rao joined government service in 1988 as assistant executive engineer in irrigation and command area development department. He was selected as deputy executive engineer through APPSE and joined in R & B department in the year 1993. He got promotion as executive engineer in the year 2004 and subsequently elevated as superintending engineer in June, 20l2.

Assets amassed by the accused official include; one plot measuring 968 sq yards at Mangalagiri worth of Rs.28.29 lakh, a four-wheeler worth of Rs 9 lakh, open plot admeasuring 572.33 sq. yards at Machilipatnam of Krishna district worth of Rs. 9 lakh, plot measuring 968 sq.

yards at Mangalagiri worth Rs 26.31 lakh, insurance premiums of Rs 30 lakh, diamond jewellery worth Rs 32 lakh, gold jewellery worth Rs 8 lakh and others According to ACB DG RP Thakur, registered values only shown against the properties unearthed. The case is under investigation. The accused officer K Veera Raghavendra Rao was arrested and produced before the court.
