In a bid to escape molesters, a 21-year-old software engineer jumped off a running train at Singarayakonda railway station on Thursday.

The girl, Sheik Nazbulla who was travelling from Chennai to her native place Vijayawada with her friends was being harassed by few men. She was visiting her home town to attend her marriage proposal meet on Friday and spend with family on Bakrid on Saturday.

Three men started misbehaving with the girls with one of them started touching Nazbulla inappropriately, while another was filming the activities on his phone. While the girls sought the help of the passengers in the coach, none of them came forward to their rescue.

Unable to deal with the harassment, the victim threw herself off from the running train to escape from molesters. Her friends pulled the chain to bring the train to halt. Following which, the station master at the railway station and her friends rushed Nazbulla to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) hospital at Ongole. She suffered serious injuries and is being treated at the hospital. The railway police have registered a case and nabbed three culprits.
