3,323 dealer posts to be filled up

Amaravati: Minister for Food and Civil Supplies Prathipati Pulla Rao said the State government would fill up vacant dealer posts for 3,323 fair price shops in the State.

Addressing a review meeting at the Secretariat on Friday, the Minister instructed the officials to fill up 3,323 vacant dealer posts of fair price shops as early as possible.

He said electronic point of sale (epos) system would be adopted State-wide for distribution of PDS rice to fair price shops to prevent irregularities in distribution of rice to poor. The experiment of epos system proved successful in East Godavari district, he said.

The Minister said that establishment of village malls would be taken up on priority basis. “Walmart group for three districts, Feature group for four districts and Reliance group for remaining districts in the State have shown interest to set up village malls.

We directed officials to take measures to set up malls in Vijayawada and Guntur by Reliance group as experiment basis. We will proceed on village malls issue on basis of outcome of the experiment,” the Minister said. The Minister also directed officials to take stringent action on shopping malls which sell goods at exorbitant prices and amore than the maximum retail price.
