Godavari in spate
The authorities in Agency mandals of West Godavari district sounded alert following huge inflows into river Godavari due to heavy rains in upstream areas.
Eluru: The authorities in Agency mandals of West Godavari district sounded alert following huge inflows into river Godavari due to heavy rains in upstream areas.
On Friday, the river Godavari is flowing with flood water at Koida in Velairpadu mandal, Polavaram mandal. About 13 meters water level recorded at Koida in Velairpadu mandal and 9 meters at Polavaram.
The overflowing water has been touching the Pattisachala kshetra hill shrine in the river bed. The water was touching the apron level of Pattiseema Lift Irrigation Scheme. The officials warned that the inflows may rise following the heavy rains in Maharashtra.
They said at present there was no danger with the flood levels. The officials are on alert in the Godavari basin as the water levels are slowly rising.
Meanwhile, the rivulets are also in spate in West Godavari Agency area. The Jalleru, Yerrakalva, Kovvada, Tammileru medium irrigation reservoirs are receiving inflows from upstream areas. However, there was no flood threat to catchment areas of these reservoirs, irrigation officials said.
