Vijayawada: The streets of Vijayawada city swarmed with people on Friday holding placards and wearing boxes on their heads showing ‘Rally for Rivers- India’s Lifeline’ and ‘Vote to save our rivers, Give a missed call to 80009 90009.’ Different sections of people from various walks of life came out in solidarity to express their support to revive country’s depleting rivers.

The three-hour rally from 8 am to 11 am witnessed hundreds of people. To raise awareness, Sadhguru will personally drive through 16 states from Kanyakumari to the Himalayas and back to Delhi on October 2 for a grand culmination. The rally will be flagged off by the Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change on September 3.

The rally will reach Vijayawada on September 13 and an event will be held at 8 am on that day at Siddhartha Arts College, Mogalrajpuram in Vijayawada. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will participate in the event, said Jogulamba, official spokesperson, Isha Foundation.
