Guwahati: Representatives of seven Central Oil PSUs led by ONGC Director DD Misra handed over cheque worth Rs 15 crore to Assam Chief Minister Sarabananda Sonowal at his office on Friday.

ONGC, IOC, BPCL, HPCL, GAIL, OIL and NRL, under the administrative control of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas have contributed Rs 15 crore ‘Flood Relief Fund’ to aid the flood affected people of the state.

The initiative was taken up by the Central Oil PSUs under the leadership of Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas.

As responsible corporate citizens, this is a token gesture by the companies to lend a helping hand to the state machinery in dealing with the magnitude of destruction and damage caused by the recent floods which has resulted in large scale loss of lives, property and displacement of lakhs of people from their homes.

The Chief Minister appreciated and thanked all the oil PSUs for extending their helping hand to the flood affected people of Assam. He also suggested the Oil PSUs to work in an integrated way for the development of Assam and North East.
