Vijayawada: Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas announced here on Friday the nine members’ task force committee for stopping the using of antibiotics in shrimp and fish cultivation.
Speaking to media persons at NTR Health University here on Friday after taking part in a meeting with officials of drug control department and fish farmers, he asked the officials to regulate labs and unlicensed medical shops. The task force committee would setup new guidelines in a month to take action against illegal operations.

He said the farmers were using banned variety drugs as those lead to health disorders in human lives. The exports of Andhra Pradesh would face severe impact and bad image from the harmful fish products exports, he asserted.
The State is top in the country with Rs 37,000 crore marine exports, he said and added the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu aim is to reach exports worth of Rs 50,000 crore. Nearly 20 lakh people are dependent on the sector, he said. The minister said the government has plans to conduct awareness meetings with farmers on the importance of quality product and import.
Especially the health department would not tolerate unauthorised and illegal sale of medicines and operations of labs, he said. Drugs Control Department DIG Ravi Shankar Ayyanar and several officials were also present.
