Kakinada: The Kakinada Municipal Corporation poll results have given a shot in the arm of the ruling Telugu Desam Party, which has trounced Congress and kept the belligerent YSR Congress party at bay giving a little room for the alliance partner BJP.

After a long gap of three decades, the TDP’s flag flutters on Kakinada Corporation by winning 32 divisions of 48 leaving only 3 for its political ally BJP. Independents won in 3 divisions while the YSR Congress Party restricted to 10 divisions only.

The campaign reached a bitter crescendo with political analysts believing that it would be a neck-and-neck fight between TDP and YSRCP. But the poll result proved otherwise. The political experience of TDP with its organised planning and developmental works did the magic for the ruling party.

It was quite evident that Nandyal election cast a shadow on the Kakinada corporation poll result with voters deciding to crown the TDP in KMC elections.

The Congress Party with a stronghold in history of Kakinada corporation was defeated in all the 17 divisions it contested and lost its deposits in all the divisions. City MLA Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao’s own brother Satyanarayana’s son Siva Prasad was also defeated in the 22nd division.

BJP showed some dissatisfaction when it was allotted just 9 divisions to contest, but it managed to win in only 3 divisions. For BJP, the big blow came in the form of its district president Yenimireddi Malakondayya’s division losing to YSRCP.

Telugu Desam candidates are in jubilant mood celebrating the success. Finance Minister Yanamala Rama Krishnudu, Home Minister China Rajappa, Civil Supplies Minister Prathipati Pulla Rao and all the other TDP leaders congratulated the winning TDP and BJP candidates.
