Highlights:

  • The programme being organised by the State Culture and Tourism Dept is aimed at preserving and promoting Telugu language and culture
  • Artistes will perform skits highlighting important social issues
  • Youth can display their talent in painting, music and dance

The cultural troupes will perform four-hour programmes at the selected venues where social issues like importance of education to children, women empowerment, prevention of child marriages, ending of dowry menace, need of caste free society, distancing youth from liquor and drugs and other issues will be highlighted through skits.

Though the government has planned to conduct Ananda Lahari in all the main cities and towns across the State, but as a pilot project it is planned in the district headquarters. The event being supervised by Cultural Department Director Dr Vijaya Bhaskar is aimed at targeting the youth, who should know the great traditions and culture of their origin.

According to Culture and Tourism Department secretary Mukesh Kumar Meena, local youth can also display their talent in painting, music and dance.

“We are taking the support and help of municipal bodies for conducting the event in a grand manner,” he said.“The local students who are interested in displaying their talent can also participate in this programme.

The artistes, sponsored by culture department will present skits, dance forms and other art forms on social issues, which will create awareness among the people on how to fight out them. The event will be used to give publicity to various government schemes and programmes too.

As a pilot project Ananda Lahari will be conducted at Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Guntur, Nellore, Chittoor, Kadapa, Kurnool, Ongole, Machilipatnam, Kakinada and Eluru on September 3. We don`t want to confine this programme for one Sunday, but to continue forever. Accordingly we are making plans. In future it will be extended to all the main cities and towns across the state,” M K Meena said.
