Visakhapatnam: Elated over winning Nandyal bye-elections and Kakinada Municipal Corporation polls, the Minister for Roads and Buildings and TDP’s strongman in the rural areas of north coastal Andhra, Ch Ayyanna Patrudu, said elections for Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation would be held in December to bury YSRCP leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy forever.

“The picture is clear now. Our development works have paid well in Nandyal and Kakinada and we are sure to win Vizag Corporation elections to pack off YS Jagan and his party,’’ said Ayyanna Patrudu while addressing party workers of rural Visakhapatnam during the swearing-in of the office-bearers of TDP (rural) here on Saturday.

Addressing a packed NTR Bhavan, Patrudu said after sweeping Visakhapatnam, the elections for Kurnool, Tirupati and Guntur corporations will be held with a gap of three months for each in the run up to the 2019 elections. However, he cautioned the party workers not to be complacent with the two victories that the party fetched after the 2014 elections.

He suggested the workers and lower rung leaders to complete the booth and village-level committees so as to take the developmental activities to the people. “The Chief Minister and party president Chandrababu Naidu campaigned at the grass-root level which fetched rich dividends in Nandyal,’’ the minister said.

Home Minister and in-charge for Visakhapatnam district N Chinarajappa said he skipped victory celebrations at Kakinada only to participate in the swearing-in of the office-bearers which was important for the party for the remaining period of the term.

“We will tell the Chief Minister to hold the elections as the people gained confidence in the party. All the party workers should get ready and prepared for the corporation elections in Visakhapatnam which might come any time,’’ said the Deputy Chief Minister sounding the bugle for the elections.

Though the event was in connection with the swearing in of rural unit of the party, a large number of urban party members were present in the party hall.

Yelamanchili MLA Panchakarla Rameshbabu took oath as president of the rural wing of the party and Jagadish as secretary along with a 51-member team.

HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Anakapalle MP M Srinivas, Pendurthy MLA Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy, MLC MVVS Murti and Visakhapatnam South MLA Vasupalle Ganesh Kumar and other senior leaders were present in the meeting.
