Inaugurates mobile app of Vijayawada City Traffic Wardens to traffic police in easing of traffic and spreading road safety awareness

The Commissioner of Police launched an app to start activities of ‘Vijayawada City Traffic Wardens’ who will help the traffic police for easing traffic movement and spreading road safety awareness among people on Sunday. The wardens’ organisation was formed with the participation of 11 private organisations and 100 traffic volunteers with an aim to streamline traffic besides awareness among citizens.

Speaking at a meeting held on the occasion, Gautam Sawang informed that 25 per cent of traffic wardens were women and said that it was good to see many private organisations and volunteers coming forward to help police improve traffic.

Stating that there were many challenges in dealing with city traffic, Sawang said that road engineering, traffic control mechanism and other aspects were linked to it. The police had been taking into consideration all the constraints and trying to improve the traffic conditions.

“How many of people have better understanding of traffic rules and the number of those who follow the rules are to be taken into consideration. Because of these reasons, people’s participation is key in improving traffic. The number of participants in traffic control should be increased by involving students of schools and colleges,” he added.

The Commissioner inaugurated http://www.vijayawadatrafficwardens.com mobile app and distributed caps and jackets to volunteers. Andhra Loyola College former professor MC Das presided over the meeting. CII President M Muralikrishna, Efftronics Managing Director D Ramakrishna, GVV Projects Managing Director Ranga Prasad, Joint Commissioner of Police Ramana Kumar and DCP Kanti Rana Tata spoke.
